The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) on Wednesday launched the first ever national U-17 football league in a bid to develop the game.
Moses Magogo, the FUFA President, told reporters here that the new development is in line with the FA's commitment towards the growth of football in the East African country.
"Our target for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign will be fruitful once the respective youth structures are properly put in place," said Magogo.
He said the league will be called the FUFA Juniors League and priority has been given to each of the 16 premier sides to organize their respective junior teams.
"We are determined to develop and promote this beautiful game of football. Recently we also introduced the FUFA Elite Women League, the first of the kind on the African continent," he added.
Uganda is now among the few African countries to have a national U-17 league. Endi
