German, Bulgarian FMs discuss energy security, bilateral ties

Xinhua, March 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier met here Tuesday to discuss the state of bilateral relations and topical issues in the European and international agenda.

Bulgaria attached strategic significance to relations with Germany, Mitov said at a joint press conference after the talks.

The two countries would begin an active dialogue with the goal of permanently ensuring Bulgaria's energy security, he added.

Bulgaria relies on Germany's support to reform its judicial system, Mitov said.

The need for a new EU approach and strategy for the Black Sea region was also discussed, the Bulgarian minister said.

Steinmeier said the two states needed to deepen relations with a view of the challenges that they faced.

He also noted that the 5,000 German companies operating in Bulgaria, and the tens of thousands of Bulgarian workers and students in Germany, contributed to the development of bilateral relations. Endit
