Cambodia's construction sector attracted a total investment of 2.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2014, down 10 percent from 2.77 billion U.S. dollars in 2013, according to official data on Monday.

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction provided licenses to 1,960 construction projects last year, up 19 percent from 1,641 projects a year earlier, the data showed.

Construction projects included condominiums, residential units, commercial buildings, shopping malls, hotels, and factories.

"The construction sector remains one of the four pillars supporting the economy," Im Chhun Lim, minister of land management, urban planning and construction, was quoted Friday by Cambodia's state-run Agence Kampuchea Press (AKP) as saying. Endi
