Tokyo shares end lower on weak economy data

Tokyo shares ended lower on Monday due to a downgrade of the country's economic growth for the fourth quarter in 2014.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 180.45 points, or 0.95 percent, to 18,790.55.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 9.08 points, or 0.59 percent, at 1, 531.76.

Decliners were led by industry groups included pharmaceuticals, utilities and real estate.

The turnover was about 2,194.9 billion yen (about 18.15 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
