Kenya's dream of playing in the finals of Africa Under-23 football tournament were buried on Sunday as they lost 4-1 on aggregate to Egypt in Machakos, eastern Kenya.
The two teams drew 1-1 in their second leg match. Kenya were defeated 3-0 by the young Pharaohs in Cairo last month.
It was the third loss for Kenya head coach Bobby Williamson, after he took over the reins of the team in August 2014.
"We played very well, but their goalkeeper was superb. Our focus now shifts to the Olympics qualifiers," said Williamson.
"I am impressed with the boys' performance specifically in the second half. That shows we have talent, but remember Rome was not built in one day."
Kenya started strongly with striking trio of Michael Olunga, Enoch Agwanda and Victor Ndinya keeping the Egyptian defence on toes.
But that was countered as Egypt's captain Abdelmonem Mahmoud netted from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after he was brought down in the danger area by Vincent Omumbo.
But five minutes later, Omumbo redeemed himself to level from the spot after Olunga was fouled by keeper Mossad Awad in the box.
Efforts by Kenya to change the team failed to bear fruits as Egyptians sat back and soaked up the pressure to win 4-3 on aggregate. Endi
