Hallmark of major-country diplomacy is win-win cooperation: minister

Xinhua, March 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

The hallmark of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics is win-win cooperation, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.

The minister made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual session of the National People's Congress.

The concept of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics includes adhering to the leadership of the Communist Party of China and socialist system, following an independent foreign policy of peace, sticking to the path of peaceful development, insisting on equality of all countries, large and small, and striking the right balance between upholding principles and pursuing shared benefits, Wang said.

All these ideas originate from the fine tradition of the Chinese nation and reflects the essential property of the socialist system, he added.

"In a globalized world, the interests of countries are increasingly intertwined, and countries may have different cultures, faiths or systems, but, at the very least, we can all accept the idea of win-win cooperation," the minister told reporters.

"By building a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation, we want to replace old practice of going it alone, and reject the old mentality of 'the winer takes all'," Wang added.

"In contrast to other major countries in history, China has already found a new path of peaceful development for itself, and now we would like to work with other countries to find a new path of win-win cooperation for the world." the minister added. Endi
