President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to the United States, scheduled for autumn this year, will infuse new momentum into the new model of major-country relations between China and the United States, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual session of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.
He expected the presidents of the two countries will have another "productive discussion" and inject new momentum into the efforts of building the new model of major-country relations between the two countries, he told reporters.
The undertaking to build a new model of major-country relations is a "pioneering effort" and it will not be a smooth sailing, said Wang.
It is a "logical development" because it is in line with the common interests of both sides and the trend of our times, he added.
As long as the two sides show sincerity, buttress the bottom line of no-conflict and no-confrontation, cement the foundation of mutual respect, "then we can explore the immense possibility of win-win cooperation between China and the United States," he said.
"There is a Chinese saying: sincerity can work wonders," Wang added. Endi
