Albanian police deactivate explosives in capital

Albanian police on Friday deactivated 200 grams of TNT contained in a package with a 2.5-meter-long fuse ready to be set on fire in the capital city.

The package, placed at the door of an internet center, was detected by passersby in the area of Berryl. The area has been cordoned off. Police said investigation is under way.

In Albania, a country beset with organized crime and corruption, it is not unusual for criminals to use bombs to warn against or assassinate targets. Several bomb blasts have rocked the country over the past weeks. Enditem
