Aussie executive tells staff to use condoms to reduce maternity leave

An Australia radio executive came under fire on Friday after telling a conference that she told staff to use condoms which she supplied.

Linda Wayman, a general manager of two Southern Cross Austereo radio stations, said she did so because there were too many pregnancies at her business.

She also said she opposed Australian laws which allow women to return to part time work at the companies they had taken maternity leave from.

"We do have a big jar of condoms at work," she told a conference run by website company Mumbrella in Perth.

"I'm not lying, I'm not exaggerating. I do encourage people regularly to have sex with condoms."

She then said she opposed Australia's maternity leave laws.

The website reported her comments, leading to Western Australia 's Equal Opportunity Commissioner Allanah Lucas saying Wayman's choice of words was "unfortunate."

"The choice of what one does about having children or not is not an employer's concern," she said on national radio. Endi
