Tokyo shares open lower following losses in U.S. market

Tokyo shares opened lower Wednesday following overnight declines in the U.S. market.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 156.67 points, or 0.83 percent, from Tuesday to 18,658.49.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 13.06 points, or 0.86 percent, to 1, 513.77. Endi
