The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday voted to pass a clean funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through Sept. 30 without any provisions to roll back U.S. President Barack Obama's contested 2014 executive actions on immigration, ending a month- long partisan gridlock that threatened a partial shutdown in the security agency.

The 257-167 vote sends the bill to Obama to be signed into law. Obama has said he will sign the funding bill for DHS, which spearheads domestic counterterrorism efforts. (U.S.-House-Bill)

SANAA -- The al-Qaida militants launched attacks against the Houthi group in Yemen's al-Bayda province on Tuesday, which killed at least 27 Houthi militants and wounded dozens of others.

The al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) attacked a stadium which was used by the Houthi militants as a training camp in al-Bayda city, the provincial capital of al-Bayda province, killing 10 Houthis and injured dozens of others, a local tribal source told Xinhua. (Yemen-Al-Qaida)

WASHINGTON -- A 20-year-old U.S. military weather satellite exploded in orbit last month following a sudden temperature spike in its power system, producing at least 43 pieces of space debris, U.S. media reported Tuesday.

The explosion of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program Flight 13 (DMSP-F13) occurred on Feb. 3, and investigators have ruled out a collision with a piece of space junk and other external factors as the cause. (U.S.-Satellite-Military)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Security Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution on South Sudan, deciding to impose targeted sanctions on those who would threaten peace, security and stability of the country.

In the unanimously adopted resolution, the Security Council decided to impose travel bans on individuals and asset freeze on individuals and entities who have directly or indirectly engaged in actions or policies that would block peace in South Sudan for an initial period of one year from today. WASHINGTON -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday called for rejection of what he termed as a " bad" nuclear deal with Iran, insisting such an accord would allow the Islamic republic to develop nuclear bombs.
