Families of the several missing people in Sri Lanka's war-ravaged north and east have demanded a United Nations team to launch an investigation to locate their family members.
The country's Presidential Commission on Missing Person began public sittings in Trincomalee on Feb. 28 to hear cases of the missing people.
The commission, which was set up by former President Mahinda Rajapakse recently received an extension by Sri Lanka's new president Maithripala Sirisena to continue with its investigations for another six months after its term came to an end on Feb. 15.
Hundreds of people continue to go missing in the island nation and families have urged the U.N. to intervene in the matter. Endi
