Tokyo shares close mixed

Xinhua, March 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tokyo shares ended mixed Tuesday with its benchmark Nikkei stocks index closing slightly lower due to profit-taking, but the downside was limited by bullish sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 11.72 points, or 0.06 percent, from Monday at 18,815.16.

On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.86 points, or 0.12 percent, at 1,526.83.

Decliners were led by iron and steel, brokerages and banks.

The turnover was about 2,418.0 billion yen (about 20.20 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
