The Croatian government on Monday announced it would investment 600 million kuna (87.5 million U.S. dollars) for environment protection and energy efficiency projects in 2015.

These funds through a special state fund, which is on disposal for Croatian companies and citizens, will be given for co-financing projects between 40 and 80 percent, the Croatian ministry for environment and nature protection said on its website.

The funds mainly focus on raising the level of energetic efficiency of buildings in Croatia, which are representing 40 percent of total annual energy consumption.

Along with co-financing projects of reconstructing public and private building to make them more energy efficient, state fund will co-finance the projects for 10,000 private house, as well as banks, shops, hotels, apartments and other commercial venues.

The money will also be granted for developing and introducing the use of renewable sources of energy in tourism.

Additionally, funds will be used to co-finance buying of 10,000 energy efficient household appliances, as well as buying electric and hybrid cars.

The ministry estimates that these projects will trigger around 1.5 billion kuna (218.7 million dollars) of investments from the private sector and will create new employments in the process of rebuilding. Endit
