Serbia to strengthen ties with Asia-Pacific region

Serbia will continue to expand its economic cooperation with countries of the Asia-Pacific region that is one of the most dynamic areas in the world, the Serbian government stated on Monday.

At a meeting between Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, who is also first deputy prime minister of the government, and representatives of diplomatic missions of Australia, India, Japan, China, Republic of Korea, Myanmar, Malaysia and Pakistan, it was concluded that Serbia is determined to strengthen the cooperation with these countries, the government stated in a press release.

"Dacic has informed the diplomatic representatives about the foreign political priorities of our country, process of the European integrations as well as Serbian priorities during its chairmanship over the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)," the press release said.

At the meeting in Belgrade it was stressed that Serbia, central and key countries of the Western Balkans, find the cooperation with these countries especially important due to the traditional and long-lasting friendship, as well as the scale of the trade that exceeds 2.2 billion U.S. dollars.

According to the release, the ambassadors and other representatives that participated at the meeting expressed gratitude for Dacic's initiative, and confirmed interest of their countries in developing stronger ties with Serbia. Endit
