Munich court allows trial against joint boss of Deutsche Bank

Xinhua, March 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Munich district court on Monday allowed a trial against Juergen Fitschen, co-CEO of Germany's largest bank Deutsche Bank (DB), for attempted fraud during an earlier trial, a court spokeswoman said.

According to German news agency dpa, Fitschen has to stand trial in court at the end of April.

In addition, four other former DB board members including two former chief executives, Josef Ackermann and Rolf Breuer, also need to stand trial for attempted fraud, the media report said.

State prosecutors accused Fitschen of giving misleading testimony in a case related to the downfall of Leo Kirch's media group.

DB settled a legal dispute with Kirch's heirs in a deal that cost the bank more than 900 million euros (1 billion U.S. dollars). Kirch, a media mogul, accused DB's former chief executive, Rolf Breuer, of questioning the creditworthiness of his group in a TV interview in 2002. Endit
