Rockets hold off Nets at home win

The Houston Rockets rolled past the Brooklyn Nets 102-98 on Friday night at Toyota Center, which was their eight straight win at home against the latter.

The Rockets got off to a slow start and was outperformed by the Nets, trailing 25-36 in the first quarter. They came back in the second quarter, made several runs and erased the deficit. The Nets responded with a spurt at the end and retook the lead 57-53 by halftime.

Both teams had a tight third quarter and Houston was able to turn around the table again, leading 74-73 entering the final period. The Rockets had fallen behind by as much as 13 and twice trailed by eight in the fourth quarter before Pat Beverley sank a three-pointer with 1:11 left to tie the game.

James Harden used a foul to make a free throw and a jumper to have a three-point advantage when 43 seconds were remaining. Houston eventually held off Brooklyn to their win.

Terrence Jones scored a season-high 26 points with 12 rebounds, Trevor Ariza scored 20 points and Harden chipped in 15 and 12 assists for the Rockets. Mason Plumlee and Deron Williams had 15 points apiece for the Nets.

The Rockets have won eight straight at home against the Nets and 16 of the last 17 meetings overall. Endi
