Death toll of swine flu rises to 965 in India

Xinhua, February 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

The death toll from H1N1 virus or swing flu this year has risen to 965 in India, said Indian Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda Friday.

A total of 965 people died due to swine flu this season but there is no need to panic as there is no shortage of free drugs to treat the patients at hospitals and clinics across the country, he said at the Lok Sabha or Lower House of Parliament.

"We had made arrangements for doctors, medicines, testing facilities, isolation wards in November with the active support of the state governments," he said.

According to the minister, while swine flu symptoms like mild fever and cough are common, people should take immediately the medicines once the disease is suspected without waiting for the test results.

Personal protection measures like a mask and cleanliness have to be taken in public places, he added. Endi
