National advisory body prepares for annual session

The Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, met on Friday to prepare for the annual session of the CPPCC National Committee.

Friday's meeting, presided over by CPPCC National Committee Chairman Yu Zhengsheng, approved a decision to hold the third annual session of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, which is due to start on March 3.

The meeting also heard explanations of the draft schedule and agenda for the session and a draft report on proposals from last year's session.

The CPPCC is a mechanism of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

It consists of figures from Chinese society who are willing to serve the think tank for the government, legislative and judicial organs. Endit
