Indian stocks surge on budget optimism

India's benchmark S&P BSE Sensex gained nearly 500 points on Friday, as blue chips rallied on hopes that the government would deliver a budget that increases public investment but sticks broadly to its fiscal deficit targets.

The 30-share index closed at 29,220.12, 473.47 points or 1.65 percent up from previous close of 28,746.65 points. Endi
