-- German Federal Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble criticized recent statements of Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis as "unhelpful". In an interview with a Greek radio, Varoufakis spoke again of a debt cut for Greece. This was among other things strictly rejected by Schaeuble.

-- The Ukrainian government said on Thursday that its army had begun to withdraw heavy artillery from the front line in eastern Ukraine. This is among the provisions of the Minsk ceasefire agreement on Feb. 12.

-- The German finance minister said he was "stunned" that his Greek colleague Yanis Varoufakis put the implementation of its bailout deal into question. Despite the displeasure, only 22 of the 311 union parliament members rejected the extension of bailout program in a test vote on Thursday. There was no dissenter in the SPD.
