CIS election monitoring chief Sergey Lebedev arrived in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, on Thursday evening as the country is to hold a parliamentary election on March 1.

Lebedev, head of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the CIS Election Monitoring Mission, will meet Shermuhammad Shohiyon, head of Tajikistan's Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER), the commission said on Friday.

Lebedev is also expected to visit a number of constituencies in Dushanbe and high-ranking Tajik government officials.

The CCER said it completed on Monday the process of registration of international election observers to Tajikistan's lower house of parliament.
