Colombian president meets U.S. envoy on peace process

Xinhua, February 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Thursday met Bernard Aronson, the U.S. special envoy to the South American nation's peace process.

"The two discussed the current status of the process and the contribution that the Special Envoy can make to these negotiations," said a brief statement released by the Presidential Palace.

The United States on Feb. 20 appointed Aronson as the special envoy to the peace process. The move was welcomed by both the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels, in hopes that the U.S. involvement could bring positive results to the peace talks that started two years ago in Havana.
