Germany's benchmark DAX index hits new record high

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday closed above 11,300 points for the first time.

Although there was no big news, the blue-chip index added 1.04 percent and closed at 11,327.19 points. It hit a new record high of 11,330.63 points during the trading.

Bayer AG topped the list of risers, up by 3.69 percent. Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. rose by 3.63 percent. The chemical giant BASF SE advanced by 2.23 percent. BMW AG St added 2.14 percent. Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz, a laundry and home care company, climbed by 2 percent.

The two utilities companies RWE AG St and E.ON SE led the fallers' list, down by 1.44 percent and 0.7 percent. Allianz SE dropped by 0.6 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa AG slipped by 0.53 percent. K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a standard and speciality fertilizer company, went down by 0.3 percent.

The turnover stood at 3.93 billion euros (around 4.4 billion U.S. dollars ). Allianz SE was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 537.77 million euros. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollars) Endit
