World Bank to provide 1.1 bln USD over 5 years to Albania

Xinhua, February 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

The World Bank representative in Tirana Tahseen Sayed on Wednesday said that the World Bank would give 1.1 billion U.S. dollars assistance to Albania over five years.

According to the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, at least 15 projects will be implemented through the assistance during the period 2015 to 2019. Three projects per year including budget support for macro-economic, financial and energy sectors will be supported.

The aid will be used with view to improving the overall economic situation, Sayed said.

"The World Bank is committed to providing ongoing technical and financial assistance to Albania in line with its development strategy," he added.

The draft of the new partnership framework will be discussed in March with a presentation before the board of the World Bank's executive directors slated for end-April. Endit
