Malaysian defense minister visits Vietnam to boost ties

Xinhua, February 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Malaysian Minister of Defense Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein is paying a visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Defense Minister Phung Quang Thanh.

The two-day visit, starting from Tuesday, will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations on the principle of mutual trust and understanding between the two peoples and two armies, said Thanh here in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Wednesday.

Thanh made the remarks at talks with his visiting Malaysian counterpart held in capital Hanoi on Wednesday, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.

The Malaysian guest, for his part, said that his delegation's visit aims to further boost the bilateral relations in the coming time.

At the talks, the two sides reviewed Vietnam-Malaysia defense cooperation over past time based on a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation signed in 2008.

In the coming time, Vietnamese and Malaysian defense ministries will promote ties in areas including delegation exchanges, search and rescue, navy, and training among others, reported VNA. Endi
