Spanish treasury places 2.515 bln euros of treasury bills at even lower yields

The Spanish treasury placed treasury bills valued at 2.515 billion euros (2.848 billion U.S. dollars) on the market on Tuesday paying lower interest rates than in previous auctions and registering a demand of more than 8.4 billion euros.

A total of 2.068 billion euros worth of nine-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of 0.122 percent, which was below the 0.137 percent of the previous issue.

The remaining 447.04 million euros worth of three-month treasury bills fetched an average interest rate of 0.001 percent.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed around 28.5 billion euros of medium and long-term debt on the market, which represented 20 percent of the country's financial needs for the year.

The treasury will hold auctions on March 10, 12 and 17. Endit
