The following are major news items in leading German newspapers on Tuesday.
Die Welt:
-- After a one-and-a-half year old boy who had not been vaccinated died of measles in Berlin, the German Child Welfare Association advised all parents to have their children vaccinated against measles.
"The death case in Berlin showed how dangerous the consequences of the refusal of vaccinations can be," said Paula Honkanen Schoberth, German national director of the Child Protection Agency.
Sueddeutsche Zeitung:
The Greek government of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has changed its negotiating strategy with the euro-partners in the battle for more financial support.
Concerned that the national parliaments of some countries, including German parliament, may refuse the planned extension of credit support, Athens worked in the preparation of the required reforms closely with the partners.
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung:
-- German train drivers union GDL will initially not call for further strikes. Instead, they arranged on Monday negotiation meeting with the state-owned railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB).
As the union announced, the meeting will begin on Thursday. In informal talks, both sides may agree on the structure of a new collective labor agreement with which the GDL can also be responsible for on-board accompanying staff. Endit
