Xinhua, February 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Six soldiers were killed in attacks across Afghanistan within the last 24 hours, the Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"A total of six Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel martyred during security duties and roadside bomb attacks over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement.

The ANA specialists found and defused 19 roadside bombs and landmines planted by the militants across the country, in addition to recovering several rounds of arms and ammunition over the same period, according to the statement.

The Afghan soldiers and police casualties have risen recently as the United States and NATO troops in Afghanistan have switched from combat to support role, namely training, advising and assisting Afghan forces since Jan. 1 this year. Endi
