Xinhua, February 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indonesia is scheduled to hold an international amateur boxing championship called President Cup from April 19 to 25 in the capital of South Sumatra province, Palembang, an organizing committee official said on Monday.

About 126 boxers from 24 countries and regions have confirmed their attendance.

Boxers already registered to vie in the championship sanctioned by international boxing association of AIBA (Association Internationale de Boxing Amateur) were among others from Australia, Bangladesh, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Egypt, Bhutan, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar, President Cup Organizing Committee Deputy Chief Sulfa Ganie said in Palembang.

"There will be more boxers to take part in the championship as the registration period would be closed down on April 1," Sulfa was quoted as saying by state media Antara news agency.

The organizing committee expected to see at least 30 from a total of 64 countries and regions invited by AIBA to take part in the sports event, he said. Endi
