Restrictions on Russian media "undemocratic, senseless": Kremlin

Kiev's decision to deprive several Russian media outlets of their accreditation is "undemocratic and senseless", a Kremlin spokesman said Saturday.
"Putting any restrictions on the right of one nation to obtain comprehensive information from various sources unquestionably runs against the notion of a modern, free and democratic state," Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.
Last Thursday, the Ukrainian parliament approved a resolution to suspend the accreditation of Russian journalists and technical staff working for some Russian media groups at Ukrainian government departments.
Dismissing the move as senseless, Peskov said "given the development of information technology, oppressive actions of this kind are by no means effective."
"On the other hand, we definitely believe that, if Ukraine wants to become a truly democratic and free country, whenever this might happen, it should stop using any such restrictions," he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Peskov stressed that Russia has always respected the work of Ukrainian journalists in the country. Endite
