Nigerian security forces foil massive prison break

Nigerian security forces on Friday thwarted a massive attempt to break into a prison facility in southern city of Calabar, the police said.

An unspecified number of gunmen attempted to force their way into the Afokang Prisons in Calabar of Cross River State, but were repelled, Horgan Bassey, the state police spokesperson told Xinhua.

The situation has returned to normal, Bassey said, adding that there was no casualty.

He said investigation has commenced to ascertain the mission of the invaders. Endi
