Club "Friends of the Great Wall" established in Bulgaria

The club of "Friends of the Great Wall of China", aimed at presentation of reliable information about China and the promotion of Sino-Bulgarian relations, was established here on Friday evening.

Evelina Hein from the Section of China Studies at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridsky", who headed the club organized by Confucius Institute in the Bulgarian capital, said at the founding ceremony that the participants would discuss various aspects of the Great Wall and learn a lot about China as well.

Prof. Ge Zhiqiang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, said the big number of people who attended this event, showed that the relationships between China and Bulgaria had a bright future.

The Confucius Institute in the future would continue to organize such events that contributed to the development of bilateral ties, Ge said at the ceremony attended by Jia Li, Deputy Head of the Chinese Mission in Bulgaria, Angel Orbetsov, head of Asia, Australia and Oceania Directorate at the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Fedotov, Director of the Center for Eastern Languages and Cultures at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", and former Vice President Angel Marin.

The award ceremony of the essay and drawing contests "Chinese Wall - yesterday, today and tomorrow" where 23 and 150 children participated respectively, was also held during the event. Endit
