Reforms crucial for economic development in Albania: World Bank offical

Xinhua, February 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tahseen Sayed, head of the World Bank delegation to Albania, said Wednesday that the current reforms adopted by the Albanian government are key to the country's further economic development.

Sayed said in a local TV interview that the public debt must remain the focus of fiscal policies for 2015 and 2016.

"These fiscal policies would be successfully implemented if the government honors its obligations to businesses. The fiscal consolidation would increase budgetary revenue and improve the economy," she said.

Sayed also mentioned that the flood which hit some southern districts of Albania would not leave a direct impact on the country's economy.

One big challenge for the Albanian government in 2015 is the revival of the macro economy, which is the basis of fiscal policies, she added. Endi
