Eurozone construction output down by 0.8 pct last December

The eurozone seasonally-adjusted production in the construction sector fell by 0.8 percent in December 2014, compared with the previous month, the European Union's (EU) statistics office Eurostat said on Wednesday.

The figure fell by 3.5 percent in the eurozone year on year.

Meanwhile, in the 28-member EU, production in construction sector decreased by 0.5 percent in December 2014, as compared to November, and up by 0.5 percent compared to a year ago.

Average production in construction for the year 2014, compared with 2013, increased by 2.0 percent in the eurozone and by 3.0 percent in the EU.

Among EU member states, the largest decreases in construction output were observed in Slovakia at 9.8 percent and the Czech Republic at 7.8 percent, while the greatest increase was registered in Romania at 15.0 percent. Endit
