Bill Gates, 59, is still the richest people in the world with a personal fortune of US$82 billion (512 billion yuan) in 2014, according to the latest Hurun Global Rich List.

The 75-year-old Carlos Slim Helú, regained second place with his fortune surging by 38 percent to 510 billion yuan.

Warren Buffett, 84, ranked the 3rd place with his fortune increased by 19 percent to 460 billion yuan. A total of 99 percent of the business magnate’s fortune was got after he was 50.

The number of billionaires with the personal fortune surpassing US$ 1 billion increased by 222 to 2089 in 2014, a new record high.

There are 537 and 430 billionaires in the United States and China respectively. A total of 529 listed rich people are of Chinese origin, accounting for 23 percent of the total figure.
