Belgian FM praises Albania's steps for EU integration

Didier Reynders, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, praised Tuesday the reforms undertaken by the Albanian government, considering them impressive and very positive for Albania's advancement towards European Union (EU) integration, local media reported.
During his visit to Albania on Tuesday, Reynders was received by Albanian foreign minister Ditmir Bushati. They discussed the prospects of Albania's EU integration, in particular the process of opening accession negotiations after receiving the candidate country status, the Albanian Daily News reported.
Reynders praised Albania's role in the region and assured his Albanian counterpart on the continued support of Belgium to the EU integration process of Albania.
Reynders and Bushati also discussed the deepening of bilateral cooperation as well as the further improvement of the very good relations between the two countries. They exchanged views on the need to improve the increasing presence of Belgian investments in Albania, focusing on TAP, where Belgian company FLUXYS is the third most important shareholder.
Reynders was received in a separate meeting by the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, who valued the very good political relations between the two countries. Nishani praised the cooperation and support of Belgium for law enforcement agencies in Albania, with direct impact on the results in the war against organized crime and terrorism.
Moreover, the Belgian senior official met with Premier Edi Rama. Their talks focused on the European prospective of Albania, for which the Albanian government remains entirely committed to successfully meeting all the obligations that the integration process requires, according to the report.
