Democratic Republic of Congo's presidential majority camp will organize a congress in March 2015 to prepare for the forthcoming elections, the group's spokesman Luzanga Shamanfu said on Monday.
Shamanfu who was speaking in Kinshasa, said the congress will be used to come up with strategies for the candidates in the presidential camp to win in the local, communal, provincial, legislative and presidential elections.
"The majority camp is ready to go for the local, communal, provincial and senatorial elections," the official reiterated.
He said discussions at the congress will focus on preparation for the 2015-16 elections and reorganization of the majority camp as well as the profile of candidates who will contest for various positions in the elections.
"The congress will also be an occasion to state the position of the presidential majority camp on the elections set for 2015 and 2016 in DR Congo," Shamanfu added.
Some political parties within the presidential camp such as the Social Renewal Movement and the Alliance for Renewal of Congo which were opposed to the revision of the election law, have called for talks to determine the new direction to be taken by the presidential camp with regards to forthcoming elections.
While reiterating the readiness of the president's camp to go for the forthcoming elections, head of the parliamentary group of the Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (ruling party) Shodari Ramazani said his party was willing to discuss with the opposition about pertinent issues raised by the electoral commission.
