Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday closed slightly down by 0.37 percent.

Greece declined to accept a six-month extension of its bailout, mounting conerns about a Greek exit from the euro zone. However, the blue-chip index merely went down by 40.17 points and closed at 10,923.23 points, slightly below the record high.

Deutsche Bank AG topped the risers' list, up by 1.64 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa AG advanced by 1.56 percent. Commerzbank AG climbed by 1.08 percent. The utilities company E.ON SE rose by 0.6 percent and Volkswagen AG Vz went up by 0.56 percent.

Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. dropped the most by 1.32 percent. Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz, a home care and personal care company, lost 1.24 percent. Deutsche Boerse AG declined by 1.16 percent. BMW AG St slipped by 1.11 percent. K+S Aktiengesellschaft, standard and speciality fertilizers company slid by 1.08 percent.

The turnover stood at 2.37 billion euros (2.69 billion U.S. dollars). Deutsche Bank AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 246.26 million euros.( 1 euro = 1.13 U.S. dollars) Enditem
