Gas pipeline hit by blast in eastern countryside of Syrian capital

A gas pipeline was hit in the eastern countryside of the capital Damascus on Monday evening, causing a blackout in parts of the capital, according to the pro-government Sama TV and witnesses.

The report said the blast was carried out by "terrorists," spelling no further details.

Meanwhile, witnesses told Xinhua that districts in the eastern part of the capital witnessed a blackout right after the explosion, which sent a huge fire that lit up the sky over the capital.

The same pipeline was previously hit by the rebels in the eastern countryside of Damascus. Endit
