Belenenses, Sporting draw 1-1 in Portuguese league

Belenenses was held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Sporting at the Restelo Stadium in Lisbon on Saturday in the 21st round of the Portuguese league.

Belenenses forward Rui Fonte scored in the 70th minute and Sporting forward Carlos Mane equalized in the four-minute extra time just before the end of the game.

Colombian forward Fredy Montero almost put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute but his effort was saved by Belenenses goalkeeper Hugo Ventura.

Belenenses midfielder Miguel Rosa nearly scored in the 26th minute but his right-footed effort went wide.

Sporting stands third in the Portuguese league with 44 points while Belenenses stands sixth with 31 points.

Also on Saturday, Gil Vicente beat Pacos Ferreira 1-0. Endi
