The G7 group issued a joint statement on Friday, urged all parties to refrain from complicating the situation in Ukraine and threatened to punish those who violate a ceasefire package agreed in Minsk on Thursday.

The statement said G7 group welcomed the package which offered "a the prospect of a comprehensive, lasting and peaceful solution to the crisis," but remained concerned about the situation in Ukraine. (Germany-Ukraine)

BRUSSELS -- An European official said on Friday that Greece and the Troika might reach a new bailout program, despite the talks between the two sides still being at an impasse.

A senior EU official familiar with the talks said Greek negotiators began talks with the Troika - the European Central Bank, the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund - on Friday in a bid to seek common ground between the ongoing bailout deal and Greece's new plan. ISLAMABAD -- Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Friday lauded military-to-military relations between China and Pakistan.

KIEV -- Hostilities between government troops and pro-independence rebels in eastern Ukraine flared up with a new vigour in the past day, killing 26 people and wounding scores of others, authorities said Friday.

The surge in fighting came as the warring sides accused each other of pushing an offensive to make territorial gains ahead of an agreed ceasefire scheduled to take effect on Sunday. (Ukraine-Fighting)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order Friday urging companies to share cybersecurity threat information among themselves and with government.
