The Dutch economy grew by 0.8 percent in 2014 compared to the previous year, the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced Friday.
The figures mark the first annual growth after two years of contraction. Dutch exports grew by 3.9 percent in 2014 compared with 2013, while imports increased by 3.8 percent. Household and government consumption remained at almost the same level as in 2013.
The provisional figures also show that the Dutch economy grew 0.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014, compared to the previous quarter, marking the third consecutive quarter of growth.
According to the CBS, the increases were almost across the board as household consumption, exports and investments all made positive contributions. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2013, the economy had expanded by 1 percent.
The growth was put down to growing exports, greater investments and higher consumption, figures showed. Endit
