EU, Greece could reach new bailout program: EU official

Xinhua, February 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

An European official said on Friday that Greece and the Troika might reach a new bailout program, despite the talks between the two sides still being at an impasse.

A senior EU official familiar with the talks said Greek negotiators began talks with the Troika - the European Central Bank, the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund - on Friday in a bid to seek common ground between the ongoing bailout deal and Greece's new plan.

"There have been very good political debates...and a new bailout program was an option," he said.

"It is not crucial to extend. One could also agree that one will commence discussions on a new program, I would not exclude it, " the EU official added. Enditem
