Russia's TASS news agency reported Friday that Ukrainian troops continued shelling in the restive east, despite a ceasefire agreement announced Thursday.

TRIPOLI -- A group of gunmen took control of two radio stations in Libya's western city of Sirte, and aired statements of the Islamic State (IS) militant group, local residents said on Friday.
The armed group, claiming to be IS members, expelled all staff at "Free Voice" and "Radio Mikdashi," and broadcast verses of Koran and IS propaganda contents, including speeches of IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the group's spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, said a resident who decline to disclose his name. KABUL -- A total of 27 militants have been killed in Afghanistan's southern Helmand and Kandahar provinces during crackdowns against Taliban hideouts on Friday, the country' s Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Afghan security forces have killed 11 Taliban militants, including a senior commander named Mohammad Agha, in the restive southern Helmand province on Friday, according to the statement. (Afghanistan-Militants)

ABUJA -- At least 20 people were killed in early morning attacks on two separate villages in northeastern Nigeria's state of Borno, where the insurgency of Boko Haram is yet to dissipate, a local security source and witness said on Friday.
Bilal Mustapha, a member of the civilian joint task force formed by local people, said he witnessed the attack on Mbuta and Alkideow villages, located 30 km away from Maiduguri, the state capital early Thursday. (Nigeria-Attack)

ISLAMABAD -- At least 19 people were killed and over 40 others injured in a twin suicide attack at a mosque of Shia Muslims in Pakistan's northwestern provincial capital of Peshawar Friday afternoon, officials said.
Information Minister of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Mushtaq Ghani said at least 19 bodies and over 40 injured including children were brought to the three hospitals of the city after the incident. (Pakistan-Blast) Endi
