Chinese police target theft, fraud on railways

Xinhua, February 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese police have dealt with 350 cases of theft and fraud in trains and detained 416 suspects during a Spring Festival security campaign.

The arrests were made by 100 police contingents on major routes and in key railways stations, according to a statement released Friday by the Ministry of Public Security.

Almost 3 billion trips will be made by road, rail, air and water during Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, this year.

In addition to police in plain clothes in stations and on trains, railway staff and passengers were encouraged to be on the look out for suspicious behavior and report it to the police. Endi
