1st LD: 11 injured as blast hits Shiite mosque in NW Pakistan

At least 11 people were injured when a blast went off at a mosque in Pakistan's northwest Peshawar city on Friday afternoon, local media reported.

Samaa TV said that the attack was of sectarian nature as the targeted mosque belongs to the minority Shiite Muslims in the area.

Local media quoted eye witnesses as saying that some unknown militants hurled hand grenades at the mosque when people were saying Friday prayer.

The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital.

The incident happened in Hayatabad area of Peshawar, the capital city of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Heavy contingent of police rushed to the blast site and cordoned off the area for investigations. Endi
