"The statement (by China's foreign ministry) was very important and I'm really happy that it came. And I think our friendship is very important for further cooperation," said Rimantas Vaitkus, the vice minister.
"I think the future is bright for China and Lithuania's cooperation, because more and more people are engaged in Chinese culture," Vaitkus told Xinhua on a Spring Festival celebration held by Confucius Institute at Vilnius University.
"And it's really important that the statement (by China's foreign ministry) came in time. Concerning educational sector, we expect that a very important agreement will be signed in the near future on mutual recognition on diplomas," he added.

The two countries have many joint projects, from culture to business, and these projects will be implemented, according to Marciulionyte.
"My understanding is that as both prime ministers spoke in Belgrade (last December), and we are now starting a new period of our relations," she added.
Besides bilateral relations, Lithuania and China can also develop relations in the mechanisms of EU-China cooperation and 16+1 cooperation, said Marciulionyte.
"This is a very good combination, and a very promising combination," she stressed.
"And my understanding is that we can talk about new plans," she added.
