British envoy to Nepal leaving next month

British Ambassador to Nepal Andrew James Sparkes is leaving next month, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the embassy.

"Mr Sparkes has taken a personal decision to leave the British Foreign Service after thirty years service and three Ambassadorial posts," the statement said.

The embassy statement said Sparkes has wished to have time to pursue other opportunities outside government.

The ambassador called on Nepalese Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey on Wednesday afternoon. Endi
