Top seed Peng Shuai upset in Pattaya Open

Top-seeded Chinese Peng Shuai and her eight-seeded compatriot Zhang Shuai both lost in the second round of the Pattaya Open tennis tournament on Wednesday.

Peng, who made it to the last 16 at the Australian Open, succumbed 3-6, 6-2, 2-6 to Japanese Misaki Doi.

Russian Vera Zvonareva, Pattaya winner in 2009 and 2010, won 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 over Zhang Shuai.

Seventh seed Monica Puig from Puerto Rico beat Romina Oprandi of Switzerland 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 to reach the third round. Endit
